Blue Heart gives $20,000 to Haiti Relief Fund

Employees of Gordon Trucking and Valley Freightliner gave a combined $20,000 to the American Red Cross in support of the Haiti relief efforts.

The catastrophic earthquake that occurred on January 12 killed more than 225,000 people, leaving an estimated 300,000 injured and 1 million homeless.

“It is impossible to completely identify with what the people of Haiti are going through,” said Chief Information Officer Scott Gordon. “But from our own giving, we know that we are helping those in the worst of needs. We fully trust and support the efforts made by the American Red Cross and will continue to look towards sponsorship in the future.”

According to their Web site, the American Red Cross has so far spent or allocated $80 million to meet the most urgent needs of earthquake survivors in Haiti.

The American Red Cross is currently focusing on three areas through its emergency responders and partners that include sending food, producing more than 1.25 million liters of water per day and distributing shelter items to those in need.
